The Origin Australian Diamonds will play in front of a sold-out crowd at Newcastle Entertainment Centre to launch their international series against the England Roses.
The three-match England Series will start on Wednesday 26 October in Newcastle off the back of the Diamonds Constellation Cup campaign against the New Zealand Silver Ferns.
The England Series will continue into November with the second match to be played at Sydney's Qudos Bank Arena on Sunday 30 October, before the third and final game will be held at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Thursday 3 November.
Newcastle marks the first venue to sell out across the Diamonds 2022 international series, with more than 3000 tickets sold.
"We are thrilled to see how eager fans are to watch the Origin Australian Diamonds in action against England in Newcastle," Netball Australia CEO Kelly Ryan said.
"We are excited to give people across the country the opportunity to see our national team off the back of an incredible gold medal win at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.”
Newcastle’s Lord Mayor Nuatali Nelmes was delighted to announce the match had sold out.
"City of Newcastle is a proud supporter of women’s sport and we are thrilled to be welcoming some of the best netballers in the world to Newcastle in October for the highly anticipated, sold-out match between the Origin Australian Diamonds and the England Roses," Cr Nelmes said.
"This match is another great example of the work that City of Newcastle, Venues NSW and the Newcastle Entertainment Centre are doing to secure these major events, which provide increased visitation and significant economic benefits for the city.
"We look forward to welcoming the visiting teams and their support staff to Newcastle for this fantastic event, which will deliver a wonderful spectacle for the region’s sports lovers and valuable flow-on effects for our visitor economy."
Venues NSW CEO Kerrie Mather echoed Cr Nelmes’ sentiment.
“We can’t wait to welcome the Australian Diamonds and England teams to a sold-out Newcastle Entertainment Centre next month,” Mather said.
