We’re Switching Off for Earth Hour 2020!

This Earth Hour we’ve put power saving measures in place at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre & Showground to lower our environmental impact and to adapt to the change in our business needs due to COVID-19.
AROUND THE VENUE
- All Newcastle Entertainment Centre & Showground lights are programmed to go out for Earth Hour on Saturday night 28th March between 8.30pm – 9.30pm with the exception of our safety/emergency lights
- On a daily basis, all internal non-essential lights are switched off throughout the centre
IN OUR OUTLETS AND CATERING STORAGE
Our Catering Department have powered off in the following ways:
- All items kept in separate freezer and cool room storage areas have been relocated to one central freezer and cool room location - all unused freezers and cool rooms have been switched off
- All fridges with non-perishable items have been switched off
- All fridges in our confectionary and bar outlets have been switched off
- All hot water storage units in our kitchens have been switched off
- All air curtain fridges have been switched off
- All lights in catering areas are switched off when not in use
